Le Cheval Blanc is a chambre d’hôte (b&b) in the centre of the stunning medieval town of St Antonin Noble Val, which nestles in the spectacular Aveyron gorge in South-West France. If you’ve seen 100 Foot Journey starring Helen Mirren you’ll already be familiar with the town. The building, which dates back to the 16th Century, was an Auberge called “Le Cheval Blanc” until the early 20th century when it became a private house. We finished an award-winning restoration of the house in 2015 and returned it to its original function and name. Since then we’ve been open for business!
We have facilities you won’t usually find in a b&b, including a fully equipped guest kitchen, a grand communal lounge/dining area plus storage and workshop facilities for cyclists. We’ve also got free wi-fi everywhere in the building.
We specialise in vegetarian and vegan food. A traditional French breakfast is vegetarian anyway, so if you’re not vegetarian, don’t worry! For vegetarians and vegans we provide wonderful evening meals (with 24 hours notice) and advice about where to eat out. There are a surprising number of options locally. We can also accommodate gluten free diets, and can consider other requirements too. Get in touch with your requirements or to inquire about availability of evening meals.
We are especially suitable for families and small groups with our family suite and a large room which can accommodate up to 4 people. We regularly host family get-togethers, and may be able to make the whole building available for groups of up to 10 people.</>
There are few things in life more important than a good night’s sleep, so all our beds are superbly comfortable with Egyptian cotton bed linen. We normally provide super-king beds, but these can be replaced with singles given 24 hours notice. We have a family suite for 4, a huge sunny room for 2 – 4 people and a double/twin. We can welcome a maximum of ten people.
We run a programme of activities, workshops and residentials throughout the year. We specialise in vegetarian food but also work with a range of local artists and artisans who offer film making and photography. Some workshops are run in French which can be a fun way to brush up on your language skills.
Peter is a passionate cyclist and runs regular fixed base road cycling holidays from Le Cheval Blanc. You can find more details on our other web site here.
