***COVID*** We are opening for the 2021 season on the 7th May. For our first weekend Natalie will be cooking something really special on the evening of Saturday 8th to celebrate our opening with simpler meals available Friday and Sunday evenings. St Antonin also has vegan friendly takeaways we can recommend, although they’re best booked in advance***COVID***
Le Cheval Blanc is a vegan bed & breakfast and cooking school. We’re located in the heart of the beautiful medieval town of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val which nestles in the stunning Aveyron Gorge, southwest France.
On our doorstep is a wealth of medieval architecture, lively bars, restaurants and artists studios. The scenery is stunning, especially the Aveyron gorge. We’re very close to vineyards and more medieval villages than you’ll have time to visit. There’s a real sense of rural life continuing as it has for centuries. One of the best markets in the region takes place every Sunday outside our front door. In addition there are endless outdoor activities available.
At Le Cheval Blanc we’re all about the food specialising in vegan gourmet cooking. We use fresh, local, quality ingredients and pride ourselves on preparing the best vegan food around. You’ll love our breakfasts and we can do evening meals to order. If you’re an omnivore, don’t worry; you’ll love our breakfasts anyway and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
If you are interested in learning about vegan cookery, we run a cooking school where we teach vegan and vegetarian cookery. For foodies who want to explore rather than learn, we’ve launched foodie adventures and gourmet weekends. If you can’t get here, we spent our covid enforced closure creating The Indulgent Vegan, our online cookery school
While you’re here we’ll share with you our local knowledge and the results of us trying to veganize the region. We know all the best places to eat and where to buy the most delicious produce.
Guests have access to a kitchen, a grand lounge/dining area and secure storage/workshop facilities for bikes. We’re especially suitable for families and groups; if there are between 6 and 10 of you, it may be possible to have exclusive use of the building. For larger groups we can sort you out with additional accommodation nearby.
Throughout the year we run a varied programme of residential and non-residential workshops, sharing our passion for vegan food. For more information and a list of workshops, visit the vegan workshops page.
New this year we are extending our training packages to include bespoke workshops aimed at chefs and other catering professionals. For more information on these sessions, visit the vegan cooking for chefs and professionals page.
We also offer online courses at The Indulgent Vegan for those who can’t visit us.
We offer guests an opportunity to share our love of food by joining us for one of two different food-focused vacations. Our Residential cookery courses are all about improving your skills in the kitchen, while enjoying spending time in this beautiful corner of France. Our Foodie Adventures are an opportunity to tour the local area, meeting producers, exploring local markets and sourcing fabulous fresh produce, then returning to our kitchens to use these ingredients to cook up a delicious vegan meal. See the Foodie Adventures page for more information, to check the list of upcoming dates, and to book.
Our gourmet weekends are themed. There will always be great vegan food of course but there will also be food related activities, typically cookery workshops or foraging for edible plants. See the Gourmet Weekends page for more information, to check the list of upcoming dates, and to book.
Anyone staying on one of our residential cookery school courses or our vegan vacations, will be welcomed into our home, which is also a fully-registered bed and breakfast. We also accept guests who just want a place to stay in the local area.
For more information about our rooms, breakfast, and dining options that are available to guests or to book a room, visit the Bed & Breakfast page.
Whether you are visiting us to learn about vegan food or as a guest visiting the local area, there are many local sights to explore and additional activities.
Because Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val is such a wonderful place to explore by bike, we also offer cycling holidays, both road and gravel which of course are vegan friendly. For more information, visit our sister site, St Antonin Noble Velo.
