This part of France is perfect for a foraging weekend. It’s really wild, there’s not much intensive agriculture and the forests on our doorstep seem to go on forever. That makes it the ideal place to find edible plants and the variety is astonishing. No matter what time of the year it’s easy to find plenty to eat within walking distance of our front door. So this foraging weekend is about celebrating all that while enjoying cooking, eating and exploring the countryside in this fabulous part of France. Of course this is the perfect vegan activity because we’re working with plants.
To make this work, we’ve teamed up with a local expert on edible plants which you’ll collect, cook and eat, but of course you’ll also enjoy the vegan cuisine we’re so well known for here at Le Cheval Blanc.
So this is how it works:
You’ll arrive on Friday afternoon and your first evening will be a sumptious plant based four course dinner here at Le Cheval Blanc complete with locally produced vegan wine.
The day starts with one of Natalie’s legendary breakfasts. Then you’ll meet Fred our edible plants expert who will take you out foraging. He says there’s always plenty to find, but it’s highly seasonal so never the same twice. He’s especially good at finding plants which aren’t just edible but are also beautifully flavoured. Then he’ll bring you back to our HQ where you’ll cook what you’ve found. Of course that ends with us all eating together with a few extras provided by Natalie.
Another gourmet breakfast awaits you on Sunday morning, then you can head out and enjoy one of the best markets in this region which takes place literally outside our front door. Your foraging weekend is now over, but you’re welcome to extend your stay if we have rooms available. If you’re a cyclist, bring your bike and be bowled over by the local roads and trails. Our other business is cycling holidays, so we can certainly help you out.
Price €385 per person based on 2 sharing. We may be able to offer discounts if more people share a room or suite (don’t worry, there’s plenty of space!)
